Thermos Sipp Tritan Hydration Bottle
| April 26, 2011 | Filled under Bottles, Plastic |
While I am very excited to introduce you all to this lovely bottle I found, I find myself at sort of a loss for words because of how little information I can find about this bottle. From what I have gathered, Thermos has partnered with Target and Target.com to produce a few lines of hydration bottles exclusively for Target. That said, I really want to say…a little more information about this bottle would help! Nonetheless, I will give it my best with this review!

First of all, I saw this bottle at a local Target and got super excited for many reasons I will explain in a little bit. But most of all, I got a matching Thermos Sipp stainless steel coffee carrier that keeps my hot coffee hot for half a day at least. It’s amazing. Check that bottle out if you get the chance! Now, down to business.
What I liked about the bottle:
- It’s a push-button open. It’s very convenient when one of your hands happen to be doing something else like writing, holding the phone, or even driving. Nothing is more frustrating than when you are trying to twist open a bottle in the middle of traffic while trying to avoid splashing all over yourself. Because you know, that would be very embarrassing to step out of your car with your crotch area all wet from water. Not that I have any experience with that…
- It has a small spout so water flow is somewhat controlled. That means that it prevents water from pouring all over your face if you accidentally tip it way too far.
- A one-click rubber ring closure makes for putting the lid on the bottle a breeze and keeps water from leaking when the cap is closed as it sloshes around in your bag or on the floor.
- I like that it twists open on the top to reveal a larger mouth for you to put tea bags, lemon wedges, or ice cubes in. Although because it is plastic, I strongly discourage you to put citrus in your bottles as it may slowly disintegrate the plastic inside. It may be a microscopic deal, but I personally err on the side of safety. What’s the point of a BPA-free bottle when you do something to leak plastic into the water anyway?
- It holds just enough water for me to get through half a day at the desk without bogging me down with weight. The plastic makes it very lightweight while the bottle itself is plenty sturdy.
- There’s a small handle that lays flat against the bottle but you can use to carry around.
- This bottles is perfect for traveling in the car, bringing into meetings, sitting at the desk, and going shopping.

What I don’t like about the bottle:
- When I drink from this bottle, I need to be careful to hold onto the cap or tilt it sideways because if I tilt it up to my face, the cap often knocks into my forehead. I feel like I’m nit-picking here but yes, it gets a little annoying after awhile.
- If you don’t wash the inside of the bottle carefully, a film of residue starts forming on the inside, which you will be able to see if you use a bottle brush to clean it. Just be diligent with a bottle sponge if you can.
- All the nooks and crannies of the click open/close area can catch dirt, lint from bags, or just specks of dust that makes it a little hard to wash. My suggestion? Rinse it every night, just briefly, so you can avoid a build up.
Bottle Features:
- Made from BPA-Free Co-polyester (according to Amazon’s brief blurb)
- Lid made from Polypropylene
- Dishwasher safe Top Rack only
- Three different colors to choose from: Teal, Dark Purple (in pictures) or Grey (Descriptions are my own naming

Company’s Social and Environmental Commitment?
- Target scores a total of 5.5/10 on GoodGuide’s rating. As a large corporation, they do a pretty good job of diversifying their community involvement and environmental commitment. Too many to count in fact. Visit here to learn more about what they do.
- Thermos does not yet yield a score on GoodGuide’s ratings. However, Thermos partners with Charity: Water to donate 100% of the cost of their bottle to fund fresh water projects in developing nations. Yay!

Where can I buy one?
- At Target.com for $9.99
- On Amazon.com sold by Target: Thermos Sipp Tritan Hydration Bottle

This IS the world’s best water bottle.
They have fixed the hinges so it doesn’t flip and hit you in the face.
My only problem with it is that it is not flush on the bottom, so it wobbles just a little bit.
I love it until the silicon ring is missing after washing… Now it’s leaking and I can’t find the replacement!
Oh no! Sometimes bottle companies are pretty good about responding to customer requests for small parts that usually cannot be replaced. It may be worth your while to contact them and see if you can get a replacement silicon ring!
I would suggest contacting Thermos directly and tell them your bottle design. If they’re unresponsive, try contacting Target because they’re a special for Target-only bottle.
It is an excelent bottle but I wish they 32 ounce. Because when I do Bikram Yoga I need at least 32 ounce.
