Keeping hydrated through summer!

Goodness, I didn’t realize how long it’s been since I last posted something useful for all you awesome readers and water lovers out there! Things are definitely moving in a faster pace in the summer with traveling and experimenting but I promise you, there are quite a few bottles in the works ready to be reviewed!
While we’re on the subject of summers (or end of summer for some of you), here are some good tips to stay hydrated and healthy:
1. Carry a bottle with you at all times.

This should go without saying but it’s always worth repeating. For myself, it’s also been hard because it’s the summer, I don’t want to carry (or wear) too much stuff on me because of the heat, so I sometimes forget to lug my bottle along! I ALWAYS regret not bringing one along because I definitely get thirsty much more often. Our bodies wick off moisture as we walk around in the sun and even when you don’t think you’re sweating, your body is definitely using up all the fluids as much as possible. If you notice yourself not peeing for about two to three hours in a row, it’s a clear sign you are getting dehydrated.
2. Misters are temporary fixes.

Keep in mind that misters that many outdoor patios and restaurants are great for temporarily dampening the sun roasted skin of yours, but don’t let the droplets on your skin fool you into thinking that you’re body is hydrated enough. The moisture that temporarily rests on your skin is only there to momentarily cool down your skin temp, but it does nothing to your internal functions, which runs on water you consume.
3. Beers, sodas, and juices are not direct substitutes for water. Especially not alcohol.

When you drink alcohol, your body actually dehydrates much faster because of the expansion of your vessels and overwork in your liver to rid the alcoholic toxins as fast as it can. It’s a diuretic and makes you drain more fluids than your body is retaining. That’s why we get hangovers and chapped lips quickly. Sodas and juice also hold a high sugar content which means your body is expending energy to process those excess sugars and rid it as fast as it can.
Stay happy, stay healthy, and definitely stay tuned! More to come soon!
Happy Autumn everyone!

These are good tips/advices you provided. I know how important water is for us, especially when summer comes. Staying properly hydrated is key to keeping fit. Thanks for sharing this!
